Here are 5 easy ways that you can help save the earth:

1. Switch off the light every time you leave the room.

2. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth.

3. Ride a bike or walk instead of using a car.

4. Turn off the car instead of letting it idle while you’re waiting.

5. Recycle and reuse whenever possible.

Back to School Barbecue 2007

The Unqua Back to School BBQ was held on September 19th.  It was a huge success.  Over 700 tickets were sold for the event.

A big thank you to our committee members, the Unqua office and custodial staff, our Rocky volunteers, and all the Unqua families who participated in making it a fun evening for all.

COMMITTEE NEWS

Now that the 2007-2008 school year is well underway, we would like to remind you of the Social Work services provided in our building.  Social Work services are available within the school to all students who may need emotional supports as a result of familial, social, or academic difficulties.  Individual counseling, as well as referrals to community resources, are available as needed.  Other services available through the problem-solving and bullying, and SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions).  Lastly, the Banana Splits Program for children of divorced or separated parents, will be available for all grade levels. This program encourages children to explore their feelings, develop new skills in coping with these issues, and progress toward acceptance.  For the older children in the program, Banana Splits is evolving where members are encouraged to share their thoughts and feelings about other issues that are important to them as well. If you have any questions or would like more information about any of our services, please do not hesitate to call us at Unqua.
