Massapequa SEPTA proudly announces the launch of its newest initiative to help the parents of students living in the Massapequa District: the Parent-to-Parent Network. The Network is intended to be a practical resource for parents of students with special needs. Parent-Volunteers who have experienced the emotions of having children with special needs and who have navigated the special education system are offering to share their experiences with other parents. While not professionals, these Parent-Volunteers hope to serve as a source of comfort and guidance to similarly situated parents.
Massapequa SEPTA has produced a brochure to introduce the Parent-to-Parent Network. This brochure will be mailed out this Winter to parents of children residing in Massapequa who are receiving special education services. The brochure lists Parent-Volunteers with their telephone numbers under different categories based on their personal experience. In addition, the brochure features a listing of valuable resources and websites parents can access, as well as information about upcoming Massapequa SEPTA Meetings. Anyone seeking further information about the Parent-to-Parent Network can contact Chris McCauley at 799-0517 or Arlene Griemsmann at 795-1022.
